Our Story
Sometimes life presses reset. Here's what happened next.
Welcome to iboots.
iboots started with a move. Like most house moves, it meant clearing out years of things I'd held onto — furniture, kitchenware, clothes, the lot. I needed to make some space, and honestly, I needed a bit of extra money to kit out the new place too.
The usual marketplaces didn't quite fit. Things sold one at a time, days or weeks apart, which meant endless separate trips to the post office instead of one. I wanted something simpler: open a stall, put everything up at once, share one link with people I actually knew, and let them have a browse — like a car boot sale, but from my living room.
That's the heart of iboots: second chances. A lamp that doesn't suit your new place might be exactly what someone else needs. A jacket you've outgrown gets another few years of wear instead of a trip to landfill. And you get a bit of money back for it, and a bit of extra space besides.
What is iboots?
A space for things with stories.
But I didn't want it to feel like a chore, or like just another listings page. A real car boot sale has an atmosphere — chatter, music playing from someone's car stereo, a bit of banter over the tables. So iboots carries a bit of that in. Record a quick voice note on an item so it doesn't just say 'vintage teapot' but sounds like you, telling the story of where it came from. Film a short video walking people round your stall, or leave a voice intro so visitors feel like they've actually dropped by. Pop on a bit of music while your stall's open, the way you would if you were really standing behind a table in your driveway.
None of it's required — you can list a plain photo and price in seconds if that's all you want. But if you'd rather make an afternoon of it, iboots gives you the tools to turn a stall into a little occasion: something you open up, share with people you know, and enjoy running, not just a task to tick off.
